| EEG Neurofeedback to Bring Individuals Out of Level-Two Coma |
No one previously has been able to bring patients non-in-vasively out of Level-Two coma, Rancho Coma Scale. The longer in Level-Two coma, one sees increased sensory deprivation which fur-ther disengages sensory for motor cortex.
The following two cases were diagnosed Level-Two coma, Peter, age 30, for three months and Collin, age 21, for two years. Both were non-responsive to touch, sound, light, or pressure. Collin and Peter were evaluated and trained utilizing Neuropathways EEG Imaging on-line feedback equipment on T4C4, T3C3 to inhibit exces-sive 4 to 7 hertz and spike activity and to facilitate 15 to 18 hertz activity. Both men were talked to about their favorite sub-jects.
Data of patients follows: Peter three months in coma from intraventricular tumor removal, had a stroke adjacent to the third ventricle on left side, and after one treatment one hour long kissed his wife, opened paralyzed left eye, and in four treatments talks, eats, and moved home. Collin was two years in coma from motorcycle accident with a 2.5cm hematoma in left temporal area with bleeding in right thalamic area, and was non-responsive to drugs to bring out of coma. In two treatments Collin was out of coma, communicates by computer, and lives at home.
